Observation of International Human Rights Day 2025

AMAWOVA, AMUCO, COHR, MSF, and PLMPAM jointly observed International Human Rights Day 2025 on 10 December 2025 at Thau Ground, Thangmeiband, Imphal West, Manipur. The programme was organised with the aim of reaffirming the universal values of justice, equality, and dignity, and to remind the public of the continuing need to protect human rights in every sphere of society. The event served as an important platform for community members, youth, and civil society organisations to come together and express their collective commitment to human rights.

The observance was honoured by the presence of Aribam Noutuneshwari Devi, Retired District and Sessions Judge, who attended as the Chief Guest. In her address, she highlighted the significance of Human Rights Day and emphasised the role of citizens in safeguarding democratic rights and freedoms. She further encouraged organisations to continue their efforts in strengthening awareness and advocating for justice and accountability.

The presidium included several prominent leaders representing the organising bodies: Yumkhaibam Kunjarani, President of AMAWOVA; Sorokhaibam Sanjoy, President of AMUCO; Phulindro Konsam, Chairman of COHR; Hijam Roshan, President of MSF; and Soraisam Memcha Leima, President of PLMPAM. Each of them addressed the gathering and spoke about the current human rights situation in Manipur, urging people to remain vigilant and united in defending their rights. They also highlighted the importance of peaceful dialogue, community cooperation, and continued activism in building a just and harmonious society.

The event witnessed participation from a large number of individuals from across the state, including students, women’s groups, youth organisations, and local residents. Their presence reflected a strong community spirit and a shared aspiration for a future rooted in human dignity, equality, and peace.
